Presentation of the Lord Lieutenant of Moray’s Commendation to RAF Reservists serving on 2622(Highland) Sqn RAF Reserves at RAF Lossiemouth on 23 may 2023.
The RAF Reserves on 2622 (Highland) Squadron were delighted to host Maj Gen The Hon Seymour Monro, the Lord Lt of Moray, recently for an Award ceremony at which the Lord Lt presented Commendations to three RAF Reservists. The Lord Lt’s Commendations were awarded to Cpl Stevie Campbell, LCpl Neil Robertson, and AS1 Andy Donegan for their professionalism and dedicated service. After the award ceremony, the Lord Lt joined recipients, colleagues, and guests for a social event to celebrate the occasion.
Sqn Ldr Chris Beckley, Officer Commanding 2622 Sqn, described the occasion, ‘2622 Sqn were honoured to have the Lord Lt of Moray present his Commendations to our three recipients. Reservists are a vital component of the Armed Forces, and the award today by the Lord Lt of Moray of his personal commendation underlines the commitment and contribution made by three exceptional RAF Reservists’.

- Air Specialist Andy Donegan and the Lord Lt of Moray. AS1 Donegan received the Commendation for his contribution to operations. He has been mobilised for full-time service five times since 2016 for airfield protection duties in the UK as well as COVID Mobile Testing Team duties, and driving support at the Commonwealth Games. He also lined the route in London for the funeral cortege of Her Late Majesty The Queen.

- Corporal Stevie Campbell and the Lord Lt of Moray. Cpl Campbell has served in the Army and RAF for 48 consecutive years and will be retiring shortly. His remarkable contribution to the Armed Forces started with 11 years of duty with the Royal Corps of Transport when he saw service in Northern Ireland. Joining 2622 Sqn as a Reservist in 1986, he transferred to Full Time Reserve Service in 1998, and has now completed 25 years in the Sqn’s Training Team. He has been responsible for training generations of recruits on the Sqn and for promoting the very best of standards in all his training duties. Cpl Campbell served on operations during Gulf War 2 and more recently was part of the RAF Regt Training Team enhancing the skills of the Nigerian Air Force Regiment. Looking back on his career, Cpl Campbell said that he most enjoyed the preparation, training and participation in Military Skills Competitions such as; the Altcar Military Skills Competition, Belgium’s International Reserves event, the RAF Regiment Strickland Trophy, Highland Reserves competitions at Black Dog ranges, and more recently the Nijmegen Marches. Cpl Campbell received his Commendation for his superb dedication to the Armed Forces and we wish him well in his retirement.

- Lance Corporal Neil Robertson and the Lord Lt of Moray. LCpl Robertson has been mobilised for full-time service on five occasions during his service, including OP HERRICK in Afghanistan, airfield protection duties in the UK, Romania, and the Sultanate of Oman as well as assisting during the COVID crisis firstly as part of a COVID Mobile Testing Team and later on driving duties with the Scottish Ambulance Service. He also took part in the ceremonial for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, route-lining for Her Late Majesty’s funeral procession, and as part of the RAF Regiment contingent for His Majesty’s Coronation parade.
