A brief ceremony was at the Dallachy Strike Wing Memorial at 11:00 on 1 Jul 25 (Canada Day). The memorial is at Bogmoor (Grid Ref NJ356 631), about 3 miles north of Fochabers on the road to Spey Bay. Australian, New Zealand and Canadian aircrew lost their lives on missions from Dallachy airfield during the 2nd World War. At Bellie Churchyard, there are gravestones of a number of Commonwealth aircrew who lost their lives on missions from Dallachy. A touching ceremony is held at the churchyard on Remembrance Sunday in Nov. Traditionally, after wreaths have been laid, locals walk over and place their poppies at the base of random Commonwealth gravestones. Historical information about Dallachy, including photographs, is on display in Fochabers Museum located on Fochabers High Street.
