On 20 October 2025 the Lord Lieutenant and the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet, Flt Sgt Fraser Cordiner of 446(Forres) Sqn RAF Air Cadets, had the privilege of a 4 hour training flight in a Poseidon P8 from 201 (Guernsey’s Own) Sqn based at RAF Lossiemouth. As a maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft, the Poseidon aircraft more than fills the gap in capability left with the withdrawal of the RAF’s Nimrod aircraft based at Kinloss until 2010.
The pride and professionalism shown by the pictures crew from 201 (Guernsey’s Own) Sqn reflect great credit on all the personnel at Lossiemouth and indeed on the Royal Air Force at large. We are very fortunate to have these incredible Service personnel and their families living with us here in Moray as neighbours, friends and partners.
