Lord Lt and DL talk to RAFP Instructor

The Lord Lt of Moray, Major General The Honourable Seymour Monro CBE LVO, accompanied by Air Commodore Al Monkman CBE DL, visited RAF Reserves on exercise at Kinloss airfield on 21 September 2021. Reservists from all four Scotland-based RAF Reserve squadrons were training using an Expeditionary Air Wing scenario to practise the protection given to Royal Air Force aircraft when deployed at home or abroad.

The training event was organised by 2622(Highland) and 603(City of Edinburgh) Squadrons for their RAF Regiment personnel. Paramedics from 612 (City of Aberdeen) Squadron and regular personnel from 51 Squadron RAF Regiment joined the exercise to ensure future interoperability between specialists and the Whole Force.

The Lord Lt talked to reservists about their training and their experiences when mobilised to assist government with containing COVID. Many of the reservists had been part of COVID Mobile Testing teams during OP RESCRIPT in 2020.

Later the same day the Lord Lt was hosted at RAF Lossiemouth by the station commander, Group Captain Chris Layden, and received update briefings on RAF Lossiemouth operational capabilities and development plans.
